Plastic wood is a composite material made of wood fiber and plastic, It can contain other ligno-cellulosic and sometimes or inorganic filler materials.Use of them is gaining popularity and is used widely indoors instead of traditional solid wood floor paneling. It is also widely used in outdoor deck floors, in railings, fences, landscaping timber, park benches and door frames to name a few.

There are many reasons for the gain in popularity for plastic wood, one major reason being is that it is more environmentally friendly compared with the solid wood alternative where hundreds of trees are chopped down to be used as floor boarding. It also requires less maintenance than solid wood which needs to be treated with preservatives to prevent rotting.

They are widely available in grays and earth tones and in the whole spectrum of wood colors. They look so much like wood but at a fraction of the cost. Another major advantage over wood is the ability of the material to be molded to be made into a particular desired spatial condition and be bent and fixed to form strong arching curves to meet the needs of interior designs.
